Paul DiNenna, Jr.
Founding Attorney

I am the founding attorney at DiNenna & Associates. I established this office in 2004 and have practiced family law in Spokane County as well as the surrounding counties in Eastern Washington consistently since then.

I obtained my juris doctorate from the Gonzaga University School of Law in 2003 and obtained my undergraduate degree from Bucknell University in 1995. I am a member of the Family Law Executive Committee, Washington State Bar Association, and am currently serving a two year term. I am also a member of the Washington State Bar Association, Spokane County Bar Association, as well as a member of the Family Law Section of the Spokane County Bar.

I practice family law because the issues call to me. I know of no other area of law as challenging or as important as advocating for and defending the integrity of family, which the Washington State Supreme Court described (and affirmed by the United States Supreme Court in Troxel v. Granville, 530 U.S. 57 (2000)) as, “the core element upon which modern civilization is founded.” In re Custody of Smith, 137, Wn.2d 1, 15, 969 P.2d 21 (1998) certiorari granted 527 U.S. 1069 (1999).

I believe that the law is intended to be a service to those in need. I am committed to my clients, am adamant about protecting them and their children from any and all unfair treatment, and am satisfied only when my clients are happy with the results I have helped obtain for them in all family law matters.

Partner

I am a compassionate advocate for youth and adults accused of crimes, and for those whose rights have been violated. For 15 years I worked as a public defender in Spokane County, Washington, representing adults and children, but specializing in juvenile criminal defense cases. I have represented youth aged 8 to 18 years old that have been charged in a variety of cases such as Minor in Possession, Theft or a Motor Vehicle, sex offenses and Murder. While representing these youth I was able to learn that the criminal case that I was representing them on, was often not the only legal issue in their lives that they needed help with. These youth also needed support and assistance in education, mental health, drug/alcohol use and civil rights areas as well.

The ability to provide youth a holistic and comprehensive representation is what prompted me to move into private practice.Working with DiNenna & Associates, I am able to provide thorough and thoughtful representation to youth in order to prevent negative impacts on their lives.DiNenna & Associates is a firm that cares about youth and their families and a place where I am able to provide holistic criminal defense and civil legal services to those in our community.

I earned my Bachelors Degree in political science and art history from Whitworth College and earned my Juris Doctorate from Gonzaga University School of Law. Go Zags! I often volunteer my time to assist juveniles with sealing their records and as an Every Student Counts Alliance member, I collaborate with community members and advocates for the elimination of the school to prison pipeline in Spokane public schools. I am a board member with Washington state organization TeamChild. I also serve as a Spokane Superior Court Pro Tem Commissioner.
